Hail Rain Clan,
I've just want to make this post to be perfectly clear about the responsibilities of being a member of Rain Clan. The allegiance has worked long and hard with our words and our deeds to be recognized as an allegiance of honor and integrity by many others. One aspect of the clan's high standards is that macroing in a dungeon for the gain of XP is not acceptable. Call it UCM or leeching from a fellow, this play style is just not right and would typically be considered to be a violation of CoC by Turbine and their envoys. To say the least, this play style is bad for the allegiance in general much less Ha'ak as our monarch and/or the patron.
That said, I had the painful duty of booting a member of the allegiance for running a macro in a dungeon that is played by many folks about 30 minutes ago. I had been contacted by several people from other allegiances about this individual who were also playing in the same fellow. All of the chats were friendly and respectful with me, since everyone knew that Rain Clan was honorable and would take quick, corrective actions.
Making a long story short, the individual character likely had a bad script and was not attacking creatures. The individual was recruiting others into a fellow and so was getting XP from the fellow. After several tells about this, I went to the dungeon and ovserved the situation for sometime. I even requested help from an envoy, but was told that the character was not technically in violation of the CoC. I had a rather long discussion with an Envoy on this point. While the envoy agreed with my feelings, she did not have any options since the character was not actively attacking creatures in the dungeon.
Thus, the individual was spared a ban from the game. Unfortunately, I had to do what I felt was the correct action to take to protect the reputation of the allegiance. I do not feel good about having to take this action, but I will not let the allegiance be slammed by any character. I apologize to the patron of that individual about not being able to consult with you first before I took action. In a perfect real world, I'd have the time and luxury of being able to talk with the individual and their patron and with Ha'ak first. However, Dereth is not the real world and this was far from an ideal situation.
There are some folks within the allegiance that already know who I'm talking about, and I do request that no names be stated in this thread or in the game. There may be some circumstances of the real-world that caused this to happen in game tonight. Thus, the individual should contact Ha'ak, Dalliance (or one of her other characters), or one of my characters so we can discuss this further. I would prefer to let this episode be a lesson learned and then we all continue to enjoy AC. However, I strongly feel that the play style of everyone within Rain Clan should be an example of good play and honor by all.
I'm sorry that something like this happened this evening, and I hope I never have to go through this scenario again. But please believe me when I say that I will do what I think is right for the game and Rain Clan if it is within my power. I want to be known as belonging to an allegiance that gives a damn and that folks do care how they are perceived by others in Dereth.
Good hunting to you all!
