Best Hunting for XP

Last night there was a discussion on how quickly people were leveling and where they hunted. I'd like to reiterate that I hunt more for enjoyment of the teamwork and the challenge when with people. And when alone, I generally am hunting for loot or specific items. That said, there are times when I want to gain XP just to be able to use an item or go on a quest, so I am trying to accumulate XP. So...post your favorite hunting grounds for XP - what level it's good for and what classes. Some things that are really good for a melee are awful for a mage with low melee defense and some places that a mage loves eat up melees.

So...What's your poison?

Right XP is my baby, i love hunting dungeons and thats where you will always find me.

The best spots In my opinion post 50 are:-

50-90 Fiuns Ayabars lab i think is the true name of it.
This spot is good for all character classes, but a reasonable magic def is required for those closer to 50. This spot can generate up to 40-50 mill/hr but in general around 30.

90-110 Fiuns Ayabars Study.
Agian a high magic defense required here and it is just a small step up from the smaller fiuns. This place is small and can only accomodate a fellow of about 4 max, but again can generate 50 mill/hr if everything is just so.

110-140 Ravenous eaters in the 110+ vault
This place requires a good melee def again at the levels closer to 110, usually a good crowd in here plus these creatures will drop majors, so loot not bad too.
Exp generated here tops at about 75 mill/hr average at about 60 ish.

Then its 140 time and the two big boys.

Egg orchard
High requirement for melee def, need it close to max with good armour and its advisable to get your major wards for here. A BM suit isnt too bad if you can grab some majors to help it out.Mages and melee can handle this place.Although it is no place for a character that cant do bludg damage, so sorry sword guys this isn't great for you!
Max exp is about 240/hr average at about 200.

Great place and my personal favourite. No UCM here and always a great crowd in here dieing ;o)
High melee def is good here. dont bother to try missile def. as it wont help you in the slightest, again grab some major wards and get good quality armour on. Place is good for mages and melee alike, although mages cant solo they are essential to obtain max exp.
Exp is on average 250mill/hr or max at over 300.

When I was in the area of 10-25 I found hunting in the Olthoi Arcade was really good for a melee, but not for archers or mages. They had to move more slowly hunting on the surface.

From 25-40, the Gredaline Consulate was good for any character type...I just had to avoid the tuskers and hollows as an archer. Mages were ok, because they hit critters hard and can heal.

At 40-59 Olthoi North was good as a melee, and ok as an archer. I cant remember where I hunted as a mage in this area...it's been a while since Dalli was this level.

As soon as I hit 60, as a melee I was on withered beach, but an archer might want to wait until about 70. Again, mages were kinda rare there until later.

Dalli loved to hunt the Moars after about level 70, but it takes some decent Magic defense to make it there. The Mosswarts are pretty brutal.

Aly spent a lot of time in the eaters once she hit 90, and it didnt take long to get from 90 to 137 where she is. She just progressed from 90 to 110 to 125.

Vissadal has good open land hunting, and unlike the area around easthingych, you can take on a single creature and kill him.

I have to say again, I cant stay in a dungeon long...I get too bored, so no matter the XP, I'll be moving around.

Alright, I'll take a stab at this while on a conference call. ;D I've pulled out some old notes and I've culled out a couple of spots for different level ranges. Small (20 - 40), middle (40 - 80), big (80-115/120), uber 125+. The following suggestions are places where I've played toons that have used them for leveling. Up until the ballpark of level 80'ish, I could go up a level with 1-2 hours of a small fellowship in most of these places; and 3-4 hours (usually less).

Trale's post is a very good listing, but it is baised for the bigger levels. I'll try to provide suggestions for the small and middle levels.

First, there are the basic stomping grounds for young archers and melees in the various levels within Marae Lassel's Olthoi Arcade. For mage types, I would suggest Grendalin Consulate (min level 25) where one will learn and develop a decent magic defense.

There are several places that I've used my melee and archer toons for the middle levels. Some of the places that come to mind are: Defiled Temple and Hidden Entrance Tunnels (just outside Yanshi). The tunnels have the benefit of increasing difficulty and level restrictions; they start at 40+ and progress to 80+. For mages, I've used the Northern Power Forge and the Defiled Temple. Some rather nice xp in those dungeons if you have a decent magic defense. A decent general purpose mid-level spot that I like is the Sclavus Temple. All character types can be effective in there once you get comfortable with the layout of the place and your fighting style. Finally, Phyntos Menace is a good place for any type of character in the 60-85 level range. Save those wasp wings for your mules at 7.5k xp per wing. While each wasp is not worth a lot of xp, you can position yourself in different spots inside the dungeon to control how much you make and/or how much damage is directed in your direction. Upper limits for xp there would be about 15 million xp/hr. One final benefit of Phyntos Menace is that those wasps seem to have the best drop rate of jet (lightning immbue) I've seen. While the quality can vary from 3 to 7, I'll not complain because of the drop rate. Easy to go in for an hour and pick up 30-50 units of jet at w/s 5+.

Around the 80 to 100 levels, a few suggestions are Ishaq's Cellar (ah, lots of pestilence rats), the Vault Sewers (be afraid of things that bump in the darkness). If you just want to be mind numb after a little while but still pickup a wide variety of decent salvage, try the Matron Hive at Baishi. That dungeon is no longer the place to be seen, so you'll have very little company in there. I could go there and easily make 15 million xp / hr by myself and as well as salvage. Just whack a swarm, then loot the corpses before they dissolve. If you do go after the bigger olthoi, your melee defense and armor will definitely need to be in good form; else you will have a quick trip to the lifestone. Another solo mage spot is the Moarsmen Spawning Grounds. While the xp is not all that great (8-10 million xp / hr) there is decent salvage to gathered there.

If xp is not your goal, but you need some MMD-notes in a hurry, then head for the Cave Penguin Hatchery. The xp is lousy, but that is more than compensated by the salvage. I've gone in there and gotten at least 50+ units of w/s 10 steel within one buff cycle (lvl 7 buffs for 55 minutes). I've yet to come out of there with loot to sell for less than 3 MMD-notes. A normal loot run in there is 5-6 MMD notes per hour. The types of salvage are limited, but steel, mahog, and opal are frequent.

Here's my guide for leveling.

EDIT: I play melees, so this might not work for archers and mages. Also, I usually don't use buff bots until level 30-40, so most of this guide is for people not getting buffs.

New arrivals, level 1-15
When you first arrive, doing all the starter quests for holt, shoushi, and yaraq will get you to level 13 or 14. You could also hunt outside till level 9 or so, then camp one of the Sword of lost light key dungeons.

Healers in the 4 starter towns sell up to level 4 attribute buffs, and there are lugian gem sellers in Holt, shoushi, and yaraq that sell level 3 protection gems. These are very helpful. I also recommend getting the explorer armor/jewely.

Level 10+
Head to the Green mire grave near Shoushi (27.8s, 71.6e) and stay there till you can take on the final room with the shamans and chief.

Visit Tibri's Cave and help her fight the banderlings and rats (24.2n, 43.2e).

level 15+
Head to the Hills citadel, the lugian citadel near Lin (56.5s, 67e). Stay here until you can take on the huge swarms on Gigas and lithos without trouble (level 20-25).

Go to the olthoi arcade, and fight whatever olthoi you do well against.

Head to the abandoned village west of shoushi (33.9s, 64.9e) and kill the lugians there. For more creatures, head south of this village to some empyrean ruins, where you will find rats, zefirs, and skeletons.

level 20+
Hunt on the beaches of eastham. avoid the stronger creatures.Try to fight the moarsmen, golems, skeletons, and some of the undead and mosswarts. Avoid gold wasps and shallows sharks.

Hunt the arwic mines, fighting the drudge lurkers and stalkers, the rats, and the banderlings. Avoid the wasps.

Fight mosswarts at Fort Aimaru (34.2s, 80.7e)

Fight mosswarts at Saadia's Retreat (53.6s, 76.6e)

level 25+
Head to the Lair of Death north of Arwic (42n 58.1e) and fight the olthoi. Once this dungeon becomes easy, head to the deeper catacombs portal in the deepest part of the lair.

Battle the mites in their cave the Mite Maze (41.2n, 57.3e). Avoid the gold wasps until you are stronger.

Roam the country side (the orange on the turbine map)

level 35+
Hunt olthoi in the olthoi soldier's nest on the plateau of Marae Lassel

level 40+
Fight the drudge raveners in the Dungeon Nye (6.2n, 34.4e)

Fight Montok Gotrok in the Old Mine, which you can access from a portal in the arwic mines

Fight the drudge raveners at the hilltop tower south of Holtburg (32.7n, 34.7e)

Slay the legionary olthoi in the ancient Empyrean Grotto (52.6n, 73.1w)

level 45+
Head to plateau Village, and fight the monouga in the inner dungeon (43.5n, 43.4w)

level 50+
Fight The olthoi in the lair of the Eviscerators (53.7n, 76.6w)

Kill white phyntos wasp in the Phyntos menace

level 60+
Head to the Pit near Stonehold (64.3n, 23.4w) and fight the monouga

Head to the Sclavus Temple (82.5s, 75w) and fight the sclavus lords

Fight Fuin in Abayar's Laboratory.

Heres some other leveling routes:

Start in the olthoi Arcade. Keep hunting in olthoi dungeons until you are level 90. Step out into the light, stinking of olthoi ichor, and shield your eyes from the painful brightness of the sun.

Kill tuskers on their island until you go crazy.

Hunt in the various walking boots dungeons. Once the dungeon is too easy move up to the next one. This should get you to about level 60.

Fight moarsmen in all their dungeons on the Vesayen isles.
